Involvement of the serotonergic system in the mode of action of the new potential antidepressant agent 5-methoxyindolyl-2-methylamine.
TLDR
Radioligand binding techniques in rat brain ex vivo showed that chronic administration of PIM-35 produced no variation in the number or the affinity of alpha 2, beta 1- and beta 2-adrenoceptors, similar to paroxetine and chlorimipramine.
Some biochemical properties of the new potential antidepressant agent N-methyl-N-propargyl-2-(1-methyl-5-methoxyindolyl)methylamine.
TLDR
IM-24 is an interesting compound which combines monoamine oxidase inhibition with inhibition of 5HT uptake which will lead to an increase of the availability of serotonin at the synaptic site and is less active than paroxetine and chlorimipramine which are very potent 5HT-uptake inhibitors.
