Prevalence and risk factors for peri-implant disease in Belgian adults.
- Alexandra Marrone, J. Lasserre, P. Bercy, M. Brecx
- MedicineClinical Oral Implants Research
- 1 August 2013
A positive correlation was showed between age, periodontitis, absence of teeth, rough surfaces and peri-implantitis, and patients with such characteristics should be informed before implant placement and frequently re-called after for maintenance visits.

Healing of human intrabony defects following treatment with enamel matrix proteins or guided tissue regeneration.
- A. Sculean, N. Donos, T. Karring
- MedicineJournal of Periodontal Research
- 1 August 1999
It is indicated that the treatment of intrabony defects with enamel matrix proteins or with bioabsorbable membranes enhances the formation of a new connective tissue attachment in humans.
The effect of dental restorative materials on dental biofilm.

- Materials Science, MedicineEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences
- 1 February 2002
It is indicated that amalgam, gold, compomer and glass-ionomer cement exert an influence against the adhering biofilm.
Treatment of intrabony defects with enamel matrix proteins and guided tissue regeneration. A prospective controlled clinical study.
- A. Sculean, P. Windisch, G. Chiantella, N. Donos, M. Brecx, E. Reich
- MedicineJournal of Clinical Periodontology
- 1 May 2001
It is concluded that all 3 regenerative treatment modalities may lead to higher CAL gain than the control one, and the combined treatment does not seem to improve the outcome of the regenerative procedure.
Influence of optimal and excluded oral hygiene on early formation of dental plaque on plastic films. A quantitative and descriptive light and electron microscopic study.
- M. Brecx, J. Theilade, R. Attström
- MedicineJournal of Clinical Periodontology
- 1 October 1980
The influence of oral hygiene on early plaque formation has been studied. The amount and structure of dental deposits formed on plastic films were determined at two occasions with or without a…
Five-year results of a prospective, randomized, controlled study evaluating treatment of intra-bony defects with a natural bone mineral and GTR.
- A. Sculean, F. Schwarz, J. Becker
- MedicineJournal of Clinical Periodontology
- 2007
It was concluded that treatment of intra-bony defects with OFD+NBM+GTR may result in significantly higher CAL gains than treatment with OfD, and the clinical results obtained after both treatments can be maintained over a period of 5 years.
Long-term Effects of Meridol® and Chlorhexidine Mouthrinses on Plaque, Gingivitis, Staining, and Bacterial Vitality
- M. Brecx, L. MacDonald, K. Legary, M. Cheang, M. Forgay
- MedicineJournal of dentistry research
- 1 August 1993
It is demonstrated that Meridol® reduced plaque accumulation, retarded gingivitis development, possessed a definite bactericidal action, and produced only slight toothstaining.
In vivo early human dental plaque formation on different supporting substances. A scanning electron microscopic and bacteriological study.
- B. Siegrist, M. Brecx, F. Gusberti, A. Joss, N. Lang
- MedicineClinical Oral Implants Research
