Results have demonstrated that the refinement done on the formulated feed may enable the abalone to grow to its marketable size of about 5–6 cm in a shorter culture period (180 days) in concrete land-based tanks.
Evaluation of Agar-Bound Microparticulate Diet as Alternative Food in Abalone Hatchery: Effects of Agar Concentrations and Feeding Frequencies
- M. Bautista-Teruel, M. Peña, A. J. Asutilla
- Environmental Science
- 3 May 2013
An agar-bound microparticulate diet was evaluated on feeding postlarval abalone Haliotis asinina, focusing on the effects of agar concentrations and feeding frequencies, and settlement and survival counts became significantly higher on daily feeding.
