Spectrum of Epithelial Neoplasms in End-Stage Renal Disease: An Experience From 66 Tumor-Bearing Kidneys With Emphasis on Histologic Patterns Distinct From Those in Sporadic Adult Renal Neoplasia
A broad spectrum of renal cell tumors exist in ESRD, only some of which resemble the sporadic RCCs, and only the acquired cystic disease-associated RCC appears to be more aggressive than the other tumor subtypes in E SRD. Expand
mtDNA mutations increase tumorigenicity in prostate cancer.
The pathogenic mtDNA ATP6 T8993G mutation was introduced into the PC3 prostate cancer cell line through cybrid transfer and tested for tumor growth in nude mice, and the resulting mutant cybrids were found to generate tumors that were 7 times larger than the wild-type (T8993T) cybrids, whereas theWild type cybrids barely grew in the mice. Prognostic Impact of Histologic Subtyping of Adult Renal Epithelial Neoplasms: An Experience of 405 Cases
It is shown that the histologic categorization of adult renal epithelial neoplasms performed by routine light microscopic hematoxylin and eosin-based examination in accordance with the contemporary classification scheme has prognostic utility. Expand
Tubulocystic Carcinoma of the Kidney: Clinicopathologic Analysis of 31 Cases of a Distinctive Rare Subtype of Renal Cell Carcinoma
In light of the distinctive clinicopathologic features and a low but definite metastatic potential, this unique subtype of renal cell carcinoma deserves formal recognition in the contemporary classification of renal neoplasms. Expand
