A novel megakaryocyte growth and development factor (MGDF) has been identified in aplastic canine plasma, and its cDNAs have been cloned from canine, murine, and human sources. Purified canine MGDF isolated by procedures involving MpI receptor affinity chromatography exists in at least two forms, with apparent molecular masses of 25 kDa and 31 kDa, that(More)
BACKGROUND The underlying mechanisms involved in the activation of hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) in gastric cancer remain unclear. As nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) as well as HIF-1 have been implicated in angiogenesis of various cancers, we investigated their relationship in gastric cancer. METHODS Nuclear expressions of HIF-1α and NF-κB/RelA were(More)
Using the palindromic PCR-cDNA display method, we have cloned a novel gene overexpressed by human colon carcinoma relative to normal colon. Among normal tissues examined, only testis expresses it at a high level. Sequence analysis revealed its extensive homology with checkpoint genes rad17 of Schizosaccharomyces pombe and RAD24 of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.(More)
We demonstrate the modeling of optical response of exciton-polarons based on the well established Holstein Hamiltonian to model coupled exciton-phonon systems in organic molecular chains. Our approach uses Green's functions to compute the density of states and the linear optical susceptibility, and thus eliminates the conventional and computationally(More)
