Precise localisation of the structural gene for the S18 ribosomal protein has been completed. The rpxR gene maps at minute 84 on the bacterial chromosome between the cycA and pyrB markers. This confirms the existence of a ribosomal protein gene outside the cluster at minute 64.
The study of membrane protein function and structure requires their successful detection, expression, solubilization, and/or reconstitution, which poses a challenging task and relies on the availability of suitable tools. Several research groups have successfully applied Nanobodies in the purification, as well as the functional and structural… (More)
Ribosomal proteins S5 were isolated from E. coli B wild type and from a spectinomycin resistant mutant derived from it. After tryptic digestion the peptides were isolated and their amino acid compositions compared. An amino acid replacement, namely arginine by leucine, was found at the C-terminus of peptide T8. This result, together with our previous… (More)
