Quantitative electroencephalographic (EEG) signal analysis has revealed itself as an important diagnostic tool in the last few years. Through the use of signal processing techniques, new quantitative representations of EEG data are obtained. To automate the diagnosis, a problem of supervised classification must be solved on these. Artificial Neural Networks… (More)
Petrobras produces nearly 90 percent of Brazil's oil at about 80 offshore oil platforms. It transports approximately 1,900 employees daily between these platforms and four mainland bases, using more than 40 helicopters that vary in capacity, operating costs, and performance characteristics. Each day, flight planners must select the helicopter routes and… (More)
The objective of our research is to develop computer-based tools to automate the clinical evaluation of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and visual evoked potentials (VEP). This paper describes a set of solutions to support all the aspects regarding the standard procedures of the diagnosis in neurophysiology, including: (1) acquisition and real-time… (More)
The iCLEF 2004 experiment at the University of Alicante has focused on how to assist users in the localization of the correct answer in passages written in a language different from the one of the query. The language of the users is Spanish and the language of the doc-uments/passages English. In order to help users, a first system shows, together with the… (More)
This paper presents an algorithm to obtain lower bounds for the Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem. An extended formulation over a large set of variables is provided and valid inequalities are identified. The algorithm combines column and cut generation and was able to improve the lower bound for almost all instances tested.
Computer simulation has eased the study of complex systems. A hospital is a complex system that is formed by a large number of units with strong interrelationships. Even though resources are limited, patients must be efficiently treated. This paper presents simulation as a tool to aid hospital management. In the first phase we present an introduction to the… (More)
The goal of this paper is to present a Fuzzy Instructional Planner belonging to an Intelligent Tutorial System (ITS) which has been designed as a tool for the reinforcement of the addition operation. We have modeled the uncertainty in the student's knowledge and the teaching strategy by using principles from a rigorous fuzzy logic methodology.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE The aim of this job is to evaluate brain maturation by means of Electroencephalogram (EEG) and Visual Evoked Potentials stimulated with flash (VEP-flash) quantitative analysis techniques. MATERIAL AND METHODS The transversal study is made on a sample of 96 subjects in which EEG and VEP-flash, first isolated and then joining… (More)
