Cefuoxime, a second-generation cephalosporin, is used in the treatment of Gram-positive infections. Here, we report a case cefuroxime-induced disulfiram-like reaction which led to sudden death of the patient.
A new full-length cDNA (PsD6) putatively encoding a ∆6-desaturase was cloned from the eicosapentaenoic acid-producing fungus Pythium splendens RBB-5. PsD6 contained an open reading frame of 1380 bp encoding a protein of 459 amino acids. The deduced amino acid sequence showed high similarity to those of other ∆6-desaturases. A recombinant vector expressing… (More)
Despite advances in early diagnosis and multimodality therapy for cancers, most of lung cancer patients have been locally advanced or metastatic at the time of diagnosis, suggesting the highly progressive characteristic of lung cancer cells. The mechanisms underling invasiveness and metastasis of lung cancer are yet to be elucidated. In the present study,… (More)
BACKGROUND The Pythium splendens is a potentially useful organism for the synthesis of large amounts of eicosapentaenoic acid. Peak biomass and lipid accumulation do not occur at the same time and growth temperature has an effect on the fatty acid composition. Little is known about the pathway or the genes involved in growth, lipid synthesis or temperature… (More)
BACKGROUND Tetramine (tetramethylene disulphotetramine, TETS) and fluoroacetamide (FAA) are known as illegal rodenticides with high toxicity to animal species and human beings, which could lead to severe clinical features, including reduction of consciousness, convulsions, coma, and even death. METHODS AND RESULTS We presented 2 cases that involved… (More)
