A bioassay was developed to test the species-recognition hypothesis and the experimental results supporting the hypothesis suggest that cuticular hydrocarbons might serve as species- and caste- Recognition cues.
Pyrrolizidine alkaloids as larval feeding deterrents for spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)
Senkirkine, a pyrrolizidine alkaloid, is to the authors' knowledge the first member of this class of compounds shown to have feeding deterrent activity in Lepidoptera.
TRANSFORMATION OF PROGESTERONE AND RELATED STEROIDS BY ASPERGILLUS TAMARII.
Synthesis of congeners and prodrugs. 3. Water-soluble prodrugs of taxol with potent antitumor activity.
Observations suggested that esters at C-2' and/or C-7, which would tend to promote water solubility, might serve as useful prodrugs of taxol, and salts had improved antitumor activity as compared to the free acids.
Azodicarbonamide inhibits HIV-1 replication by targeting the nucleocapsid protein
Nucleocapsid p7 (NCp7) proteins of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) contain two zinc binding domains of the sequence Cys-(X)2-Cys-(X)4-His-(X)4-Cys (CCHC)1,2. The spacing pattern and…

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids from Heliotropium rotundifolium.
Heliotropium rotundifolium was shown to contain, in addition to the previously isolated europine , three other alkaloids: heliotrine , lasiocarpine , and a new alkaloid identified as…
