Acclimation and tolerance of Artemia salina and Ophryotrocha labronica to cooper sulphate
- L. Saliba, M. Ahsanullah
- Environmental Science
- 1 December 1973
It is suggested that, in A. salina, a certain tolerance to copper may be acquired through exposure to low concentrations, while in O. labronica, this tolerance diminished in successive generations.
Health risks associated with pollution of coastal bathing waters.
A number of microbiological/epidemiological studies have been carried out since 1953 in an attempt to define the levels of risk following exposure to different concentrations of bacteria in bathing waters, but correlation between specific symptoms and bacterial indicator concentrations varied considerably.
Effects of surface and sunken crude oil on the behaviour of a sea urchin

Acclimation and tolerance of Artemia salina to copper salts
- L. Saliba, R. M. Krzyz
- Environmental Science
- 1 November 1976
It is suggested that in A. salina, copper toxicity depends on the particular form of the metal, and that this difference is also evident in growth inhibition and in the potential acquisition of increased tolerance through exposure to low concentrations.

Effects of mercury on the behaviour and oxygen consumption of Monodonta articulata
It is concluded that respiratory and behavioural alterations of this nature would afford a good indicator of the presence of sub-lethal concentrations of pollutants.
Public Health Criteria for the Aquatic Environment: Recent WHO Guidelines and Their Application
- R. Helmer, I. Hespanhol, L. Saliba
- Medicine
- 1 July 1991
The Mediterranean serves as the major study area for assessing health risks from bathing in coastal waters and from the consumption of shellfish eaten uncooked, and new guidelines for control of helminths were recently issued by a WHO Scientific Group.
