Observations with the electron microscope on Asteromonas gracilis Artari emend. (Stephanoptera gracilis (Artari) wisl.), with some comparative observations on Dunaliella Sp
Comparisons indicate that A. gracilis is the type species and sole known representative of a very distinct genus which cannot be confused with Pyramimonas and is unlikely to be synonymous with the imperfectly known genus, Stephanoptera.
Silica-scaled chrysophytes from permanent and temporary waters of Hortobágy, eastern Hungary
The silica-scaled flagellate flora of permanent (reservoirs, fishponds) and temporary (roadside Caricetum) waters of the Hortobágy National Park, eastern Hungary, was studied based on materials…
Silica-scaled chrysophytes from Hungary
The silica-scaled ehrysophyte flora of Hungary has been poorly doeumented. Although many data were published during the 20th century, litcle was aetually validated because of the laek of eleetron…
Observations on the tine structure of coccoliths, scales and the protoplast of a freshwater coccolithophorid, Hymenomonas roseola Stein, with supplementary observations on the protoplast of…
A developmental and anatomical re-investigation of a clone of this freshwater coccolithophorid has shown that its tremaliths are modified scale rims as in the cognate case of the placoliths of Coccolithus pelagicus and the cricolithS of Cricosphaera carterae, and the protoplast is shown to be distinguished by peculiarities of the haptonema, pyrenoid and flagellar roots.
Silica-scaled chrysophytes from the bog-lake Baláta-tó, SW Hungary
Twenty-six species of silica-scaled chrysophytes representing the genera Chrysosphaerella, Mallomonas and Synura are reported based on transmission electron microscopy from the springtime flora of the slightly acidic bog-lake Balata-to, a Nature Reserve, situated in Southwest Hungary.
Silica-scaled flagellates (Synurophyceae) of the „Mestecanisu de la Reci”, Covasna County, Transsylvania, Romania
Silica-scaled flagellates (synurophyceae) of the „Mestecanisu de la Reci” Covasna County, Transylvania, Romania. The „Mestecanisu de la Reci” („Retyi Nyir”) is an extended sandy area situated in the…
Observations on the Fine Structure of Chlorococcum MinutumStarr (chlorococcales, chlorophyceae). Vegetative Cells and Zoospores
The pyrenoid, in both motile and vegetative cells, exhibits continuous starch sheath and fine channels in its matrix, lined by double membranes originating from the chloroplast, while the mature zoospores exhibited the outer crystalline layer only.
Recent occurrence of Mallomonas intermedia Kisselev (Synurophyceae, Chrysophyta) in Transylvania (Romania), based on scanning electron microscopy
The present finding proved that Mallomonas intermedia could not be properly identified at infraspecific level solely based on the ultra structure of scales, without knowing the structure of bristles, too.
Structure, diversity and seasonal dynamics of algal communities, with special attention to diatoms, from “Lacul Dulce” (Lake no.3) – Turda (Cluj county, Romania)
Investigation of the algal communities inhabiting of Lake No. 3 from Turda, Cluj County, Romania finds 80 algal taxa belonging to 5 phyla, with special attention to diatoms, the group of algae that is the subject of the first author's PhD thesis.
Observations on the Ultrastructural cytology of Chlorangiella subarctica(Skuja) Fott (Tetrasporales, Chlorophyceae)
Summary The fine structure of attached vegetative cells and of the forming zoospores of Chlorangiella subarctica (Skuja) Fott (Tetrasporales, Chlorophyceae) is described by transmission electron…
