Hedgehog lipid modifications are required for Hedgehog stabilization in the extracellular matrix
It is shown that in the receiving cells of the Drosophila wing imaginal disc, lipid-unmodified Hh spreads across many more cell diameters than the wild type and this spreading leads to the activation of low but not high threshold responses. Expand
Notes for genera: Ascomycota
This work is intended to provide the foundation for updating the ascomycete component of the “Without prejudice list of generic names of Fungi” published in 2013, which will be developed into a list of protected generic names. Expand
Compartmentation of enzymes in a microbody, the glycosome, is essential in Trypanosoma brucei.
The PEX2 gene of Trypanosoma brucei was identified and its expression was silenced by means of tetracycline-inducible RNA interference, and bloodstream-form and Insect-form trypanosomes, which rely exclusively on glycolysis for ATP generation, died rapidly upon P EX2 depletion. Expand
A multigene phylogeny toward a new phylogenetic classification of Leotiomycetes
A phylogeny based on up to 15 concatenated genes across 279 specimens of Leotiomycetes constitutes a framework for enabling future taxonomically targeted studies using deliberate specimen selection, and an ITS gene tree is presented, particularly targeting ex-type specimens of generic type species. Antigenicity of the Leishmania infantum histones H2B and H4 during canine viscerocutaneous leishmaniasis
It is shown that sera from dogs naturally infected with Leishmania infantum contain antibodies that specifically react against the parasite H2B and H4 histones, and the main linear antigenic determinants are located in the amino‐terminal domains of these histones. Expand
Fungal Planet description sheets: 785–867
Novel species of fungi described in this study include those from various countries as follows: Angola, Gnomoniopsis angolensis and Pseudopithomyces angolensis on unknown host plants. Australia,Expand
Cryptosporidiosis among patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in Zulia State, Venezuela.
The results suggest that Cryptosporidium is very common in AIDS patients with diarrhea in Venezuela, however, the role of this parasite as an enteropathogen in these patients is uncertain. Expand
Mapping of the linear antigenic determinants from the Leishmania infantum histone H2A recognized by sera from dogs with leishmaniasis.
The present data indicate that, in spite of the evolutionary conservation of the H2A histone protein among eukaryotic organisms, the humoral response against this protein during natural infection is specifically triggered by the parasite protein antigenic determinants. Expand
Characterization of the antigenic determinants of the Leishmania infantum histone H3 recognized by antibodies elicited during canine visceral leishmaniasis
The results of the prevalence of anti‐histone H3 antibodies in canine VL sera together with the sequence‐specific characteristics of the amino‐terminal region of L. infantum hist one H3 indicate that the recombinant protein rLiH3‐Nt may be of use for diagnosis of canine V L. Expand
