Crayfishes and shrimps (Decapoda) are conspicuous components of the aquatic environments of Illinois and are among the authors' largest aquatic invertebrates and often are present in large populations.
Phylogenetic relations among percid fishes as inferred from mitochondrial cytochrome b DNA sequence data.
A revised classification of Percidae is presented and the phylogenetic evidence for the independent evolution of small benthic species within Etheostomatinae and Luciopercinae is discussed.
Intraspecific phylogeography of Percina evides (Percidae: Etheostomatinae): an additional test of the Central Highlands pre‐Pleistocene vicariance hypothesis
Pleistocene vicariance hypothesis is tested with a phylogeographic analysis of the percid species Percina evides, which is widely distributed in several disjunct areas of the Central Highlands, and recovery of very limited mitochondrial DNA polymorphism and lack of phyloGEographic structuring support a hypothesis of dispersal during or following the Pleistocene.
Redescription of Pterygoplichthys punctatus and description of a new species of Pterygoplichthys (Siluriformes: Loricariidae)
Pterygoplichthys punctatus and P. weberi, new species, are unique among hypostomines in having a medially divided buccal papilla. The two species can be separated from one another by color (small…
IDENTIFICATION OF SAILFIN CATFISHES (TELEOSTEI: LORICARIIDAE) IN SOUTHEASTERN ASIA
Three species of sailfin catfishes native to South America, Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus, P. pardalis and P. disjunctivus, have been collected recently in several countries in southeastern Asia.
