The Pines of Mexico and Central America
This book brings together information from the author's 40 years of collecting trips, laboratory research, studies of herbarium specimens, and information published by botanists and foresters about pine species and varieties in Mexico. Expand
Cacti–shrub interactions in the coastal desert of northern Sinaloa, Mexico
Abstract Spatial patterns and replacement in ten cacti were studied on an island of the coastal desert of Sinaloa, Mexico. Four platyopuntias had 74–92% of their individuals beneath shrub canopies,Expand
Plant species richness and diversity along an altitudinal gradient in the Sierra Nevada, Mexico
Few species were adapted to the full spectrum of environmental variation along the elevation gradient studied, suggesting that differences in species richness are mainly influenced by elevation (temperature and humidity) and soil variables, namely A 2 permanent wilting point, organic matter and horizon field capacity and A 1 horizon Mg 2+ . Morpho-anatomical changes and photosynthetic metabolism of Stenocereus beneckei seedlings under soil water deficit.
In this study, photosynthetic metabolism (titratable protons) and morpho-anatomical features of Stenocereus beneckei seedlings were examined under limiting water conditions and it seems that soil moisture does not determine CAM expression. Expand
Wood variation in Laguncularia racemosa and its effect on fibre quality
AbstractLaguncularia racemosa wood is commonly used in north-western Mexico and harvested without the knowledge of whether environmental conditions affect wood quality. Laguncularia racemosa anatomyExpand
2 Posgrado en Botanica, Colegio de Postgraduados, Campus Montecillo, Texcoco, Mexico. 3 Autor para la correspondencia: gcruzc@colpos.mx Abstract: Humid Mountain Forest is one of the most importantExpand
Potential species distribution modeling and the use of principal component analysis as predictor variables
Prior to modeling the potential distribution of a species it is recommended to carry out analyses to reduce errors in the model, especially those caused by the spatial autocorrelation of presenceExpand
Effects of flooding on wood and bark anatomy of four species in a mangrove forest community
Abstract. Variation in the wood and bark anatomy of the dominant species of a mangrove forest community in Mexico was evaluated in relation to some environmental factors, and their physiologicalExpand
Anatomical wood variation of Buddleja cordata (Buddlejaceae) along its natural range in Mexico
Vessel density expressed by its distribution in latewood and porosity type showed that ring-porosity is common in individuals from high latitudes, and redundancy analysis revealed that the first pair of canonical variates are significant, thus the canonical variate, named distribution, represents a gradient of maximum temperature of the warmest period, annual temperature range, and latitude in its area of distribution. Vegetation ordination at the southern Chihuahuan Desert (San Luis Potosi, Mexico)
Cover data for 93 perennial plant species from fifty 1 ha sites, were used to ordinate desert vegetation in relation to 50 environmental variables at El Huizache Corridor. Cumulative varianceExpand
