The data suggest that the effectiveness of the essential oil and eugenol is based on its ability to stimulate the synthesis of mucus, an important gastroprotective factor, however, further pharmacological and toxicological investigations are required to enable its use for the treatment of gastric ulcer.

The short‐term treatment with G. cambogia demonstrated a hypotriglyceridemic effect, which does not appear to be related to changes in leptinemia, and no significant response was observed on other variables of the lipid profile, or on the anthropometric and calorimetric parameters.
