A Dietary Supplement Containing Standardized Phaseolus vulgaris Extract Influences Body Composition of Overweight Men and Women
Results indicate that Phaseolus vulgaris extract produces significant decrement in body weight and suggest decrements in fat mass in the face of maintained lean body mass and indicate the use of natural weight loss supplements could aid in the struggle against obesity. Expand
Paradoxical psoriasis in a large cohort of patients with inflammatory bowel disease receiving treatment with anti‐TNF alpha: 5‐year follow‐up study
Psoriasis is an emerging paradoxical side effect in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) when treated with anti‐TNF alpha. Patients with severe skin lesions unresponsive to topical therapyExpand
Development of psoriasis scalp with alopecia during treatment of Crohn's disease with infliximab and rapid response to both diseases to ustekinumab.
The effectiveness of ustekinumab in the treatment of both severe scalp psoriasis lesions with alopecia and active Crohn's disease is reported about. Expand
Physiological changes in ageing skin
Production of epidermal thymocyte‐activating factor is reduced leading to a decrease in the immune response; there is also a decreased functioning of Meissner's and Pacinian corpuscles. Expand
Antioxidant effect of ferulic acid in isolated membranes and intact cells: synergistic interactions with alpha-tocopherol, beta-carotene, and ascorbic acid.
Ferulic acid acted as a potent antioxidant in the authors' models, being more effective in protecting from tert-BOOH than from AAPH, and was the most effective among the antioxidants tested. Expand
DHA induces apoptosis and differentiation in human melanoma cells in vitro: involvement of HuR-mediated COX-2 mRNA stabilization and β-catenin nuclear translocation.
The findings allow us to associate for the first time the constitutive expression of COX-2 in melanoma cells to the HuR-mediated stabilization of its mRNA and suggest that also β-catenin may play a role in HuR -mediated COx-2 stabilization in these cells. Expand

A physical–mathematical model for simulating the dynamics of Epidermal (free‐) Water Evaporation (EWE) and of transepidermal water loss of hydrated skin is developed. Expand
Effect of retinoids on follicular cells.
There appeared to be a relationship between the ability of retinoid to increase cRABP, increase 3H-thymidine incorporation, and alter the dynamics of the hair cycle and treatment of human dermal papilla cells in culture with retinoic acid does not appear to affect proliferation, at least at the doses tested. Expand
Role of β-catenin signaling in the anti-invasive effect of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA in human melanoma cells.
The data obtained further support the potential role of dietary DHA as suppressor of melanoma progression to invasive malignancy through its ability to enhance MITF expression and PKA-dependent nuclear β-catenin phosphorylation. Expand
