The kidney in maturity onset diabetes mellitus: a clinical study of 510 patients.
TLDR
The results revealed an evolution which is quite different from that seen in juvenile onset, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, andphasis in this study was placed on hypertension, frequently observed in patients, and on quantitative as well as qualitative protein excretion, which provide a useful marker of glomerular or tubule dysfunction when analyzed according to the molecular weight of the various fractions excreted. Clinical Pharmacokinetics of Clomipramine
TLDR
Clomipramine, like the other tricyclics, is an antidepressant with a fairly narrow therapeutic range, combined with a high interindividual variability, makes this class of drugs ideal candidates for blood concentration monitoring. Expand
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of Olanzapine: The Combined Effect of Age, Gender, Smoking, and Comedication
TLDR
It is suggested that patients characterized by a combination of factors associated with altered metabolism may benefit from olanzapine TDM, and a tendency for higher concentration associated with female gender accounted for 27% of observed interindividual variability. Expand
Therapeutic drug monitoring of risperidone using a new, rapid HPLC method: reappraisal of interindividual variability factors.
TLDR
Therapeutic drug monitoring data, collected in patients representative of the population for which the drug was intended, allowed us to quantify the dose reduction needed in elderly patients and thus provided valuable information in addition to the one collected during premarketing studies performed with strict inclusion and exclusion criteria. Expand
Steady-state concentration of venlafaxine enantiomers: model-based analysis of between-patient variability
TLDR
Observations, together with model-based simulations, suggested that marked stereoselectivity in a patient subgroup may be related with impairment of O-desmethylation greater for (–) than (+) venlafaxine. Expand
Effect of oxidative polymorphism (debrisoquine/sparteine type) on hepatic first-pass metabolism of bufuralol
TLDR
Bufuralol is a beta-adrenoceptor blocking drug whose oxidative metabolism is under the same genetic control as debrisoquine and sparteine and non-linear kinetics may occur after oral administration of bufuralol. Expand
Renal Failure, Drug Pharmacokinetics and Drug Action
TLDR
A critical analysis of the proposed methods of adapting drug dosage in renal insufficiency is presented and it is shown that all patients with renal disease must be monitored closely, particularly for signs of unexpected drug toxicity. Expand
The Use of Population Pharmacokinetics in Drug Development
TLDR
This article outlines the population approach, and discusses how it can be implemented within the framework of the studies currently performed as part of the clinical phases of new drug development, and considers study design and performance, based on real-life experiences. Expand
Physiologically based pharmacokinetics in Drug Development and Regulatory Science: A workshop report (Georgetown University, Washington, DC, May 29–30, 2002)
TLDR
This report summarizes the presentations and recommendations that emerged from the workshop, while providing key references, software, and PBPK data sources in the appendices. Expand
