A proposed typology of the street roles of female addicts was tested through interviews with 62 female addicts. Five role types are identified which are distinct from one another and exhaust the range of roles reported by respondents. A number of limitations to the typology are isolated and discussed.
A great deal of the literature on addiction is devoted to analyses of the relation between drugs of addiction and crime among males.
