We probed the coherent plasmon dephasing time (T<sub>2</sub>) in gold nanostructures while thermally modulating the surrounding VO<sub>2</sub>. Our findings indicate three distinct lifetimes corresponding to the insulating, metallic and one at the phase-transformation onset.
