An in-vitro method for buccal adhesion studies: importance of instrument variables.
A method using a texture analyzer equipment and chicken pouch as the biological tissue was investigated for measuring the bioadhesive properties of polymers under simulated buccal conditions and the values obtained for the work of adhesion and peak detachment force were quite consistent in the ranking of the polymers. Formulation and evaluation of controlled release Eudragit buccal patches.
Of the various bioadhesive polymers studied, Cekol 700 appeared to be most satisfactory in terms of modifying the drug release and enhancement of the bioadhesiveness. Expand
Pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of α‐, γ‐ and δ‐tocotrienols under different food status
We have investigated the pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of α‐, γ‐ and δ‐tocotrienols under fed and fasted conditions in eight healthy volunteers.
Pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of alpha-, gamma- and delta-tocotrienols under different food status.
The pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of alpha-, gamma- and delta-tocotrienols under fed and fasted conditions in eight healthy volunteers was investigated and the mean apparent volume of distribution values under the fed state were significantly smaller than those of the fasted state, which could be attributed to increased absorption of the tocotrienols in thefed state. Acupuncture versus sham acupuncture for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain.
After 10 weeks of treatment, acupuncture proved almost twice as likely as sham treatment to improve CP/CPPS symptoms and participants receiving acupuncture were 2.4-fold more likely to experience long-term benefit than were participants receiving sham acupuncture. Expand
Adverse impact of sexual dysfunction in chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome.
Patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome and sexual dysfunction experienced substantially worse symptoms and worse quality of life than other patients with CP/CPPS. Expand
Influence of route of administration on the absorption and disposition of α,‐ γ‐ and δ‐tocotrienols in rats
Interestingly, all three tocotrienols were found to be negligibly absorbed when administered intraperitoneally and intramuscularly, and these two routes of administration should be avoided when evaluating the biological activities of the tocottrienols in whole animal experiments. Expand
Influence of lipolysis and droplet size on tocotrienol absorption from self-emulsifying formulations.
It appeared that both droplet sizes as well as the rate and extent of lipolysis of the emulsion products formed were important for enhancing the bioavailability of the tocotrienols from the self-emulsifying systems. Expand
Terazosin therapy for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome: a randomized, placebo controlled trial.
Terazosin proved superior to placebo for patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome who had not received alpha-blockers previously. Expand

There was a trend towards improvement in arterial compliance with 2 months’ of tocotrienol rich vitamin E treatment, and all SF-TRE treated groups had significantly higher plasma α, δ and δ tocotrianol concentrations compared to placebo. Expand
