Cytoplasmic streaming in plant cells: the role of wall slip
A microscopic model for cytoplasmic streaming in algal cells such as those of Chara corallina is presented, via lattice Boltzmann simulations, and it is found that this simplified view is enough to account for the observed magnitude of streaming velocities in intracellular fluid in living plant cells.
Modelling the effect of myosin X motors on filopodia growth.
It is shown that in the absence of motors, filopodia growth is overestimated by the continuum mean-field theory, and fluctuations slow down the growth, especially when the protrusions are driven by a small number of F-actin fibres, and when the force opposing growth is large enough.
