Diferulic and ferulic acid in the cell wall of Avena coleoptiles : their relationships to mechanical properties of the cell wall
The results suggest that ferulic acid, ester-linked to cell wall polysaccharides, is oxidized to give diferulic Acid, which makes the cell wall mechanically rigid by cross-linking matrix poly Saccharides and results in limited cell extension growth.

Results suggest that the antimicrobial activity of triterpenes in I. integra is due to a change of membrane permeability arising from membrane lipid alteration.
