Research, development, and design considerations used to produce a Structural Information System capable of characterizing the behavior of an adaptive reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand reverse loadings indicate that splices in the tendons and slippage between the tendon and the concrete help to prevent sudden failure and allow the structure to withstand relatively high service loads despite appreciable deformation.
