DNA Differential Diagnosis of Taeniasis and Cysticercosis by Multiplex PCR
TLDR
The application of the multiplex PCR would be useful not only for surveillance of taeniasis and cysticercosis control but also for the molecular epidemiological survey of these cestode infections.
TAXONOMY, COMPARATIVE ANATOMY AND PHYLOGENY OF JAPANESE CATSHARKS, SCYLIORHINIDAE
TLDR
Systematics of Japanese sharks in the family Scyliorhinidae were investigated externally and internally in order to review their classification and to make their interrelationships clear.
A phylogenetic hypothesis for the distribution of two genotypes of the pig tapeworm Taenia solium worldwide
TLDR
Results and historical data of swine domestication, distribution of pigs and colonization suggest that T. solium was introduced recently into Latin America and Africa from different regions of Europe during the colonial age, and that the tapeworm of another origin independently spread in Asian countries.
Sympatric Occurrence of Taenia solium, T. saginata, and T. asiatica, Thailand
TLDR
DNA analysis of morphologically identified T. saginata, in a dual infection with T. solium, indicated it was T. asiatica and a dual Taenia infection from Thailand, the first of its kind.
Echinococcus species from red foxes, corsac foxes, and wolves in Mongolia
TLDR
The small intestines of 420 wild canids from Mongolia, were examined for adult worms of the genus Echinococcus and the Mongolian genotype of E. multilocularis was found in fifteen red foxes and four wolves, whereas two genotypes of Echinitis canadensis were found in two and three wolves, respectively.
Cystic Echinococcoses in Mongolia: Molecular Identification, Serology and Risk Factors
TLDR
The main species/strains in the study population were E. canadenis and E. granulossus s.s. with E.Canadensis the predominant species identified in children.
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) immunoreactivity in the mouse adrenal gland
TLDR
Results suggest the co-existence of GABA and noradrenaline within the chromaffin granules within the adrenal medulla and since no ganglion cells with GABA immunoreactivity were found in the mouse adrenal gland, the GABA Immunoreactive nerve fibers are regarded as extrinsic in origin.
Geographical colour variation in cichlid fishes at the southern end of Lake Tanganyika
SynopsisGeographical colour variation and distribution of 48 common cichlid fish species were studied at 20 sites along an 85 km shoreline at the southern end of Lake Tanganyika, Africa. Sixteen
