Broad bean wilt virus Causes Necrotic Symptoms and Generates Defective RNAs in Capsicum annuum.
TLDR
Morphological and host range analyses of extracts from infected plants suggested that the causal agent of disease was a Broad bean wilt virus (BBWV), and the virus was tentatively named a Korean isolate of BBWV (BBwV-K), which generates defective RNAs in hot pepper exhibiting necrotic symptoms, which is the first report of defectiveRNAs in the Fabavirus genera ofBBWVs. POPULATIONS, MICROHABITAT PREFERENCE AND EFFECTS OF INFESTATION OF TWO SPECIES OF Orthohalarachne (HALARACHNIDAE: ACARINA) IN THE NORTHERN FUR SEAL1
TLDR
The heavy infestation with these mites appeared to result in impairment of respiration in fur seals, and could also cause lesions in the lungs and secondary alveolar emphysems, predispose to more serious diseases, or even kill the host animal. Expand
Host selection and reproductive success of French and Moroccan populations of the parasitoid, Microctonus aethiopoides (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)
TLDR
The French and Moroccan strains of M. aethiopoides are clearly separable by biological, behavioral, and morphometric traits and the preferred host for Hypera is the French strain and Sitona for the Moroccan strain, Consequently, geographic location and host source become important when considering this parasitoid as a potential biological control agent. Seasonal Emergence Patterns of Black Flies (Diptera: Simuliidae) in Northwestern Pennsylvania
TLDR
A two-year emergence trap study of black flies at four sites in northwestern Pennsylvania yielded 1%3 individuals of nine species, including Prosimulium mixtum, P. jU5cum, Stegapterna mutata, Simulium aureum, S. excisum, and S. vittatum, which revealed the IIIL-l and IS-7 sibling species of S. tuberasum. TLDR
Twenty species of the Enderleinellus parasitic upon squirrels of the Sciurini and Tamiasciurini are described and illustrated, including seven new species, and the characters of taxonomic importance for both nymphal and adult stages in the genus Enderleinllus are discussed. Expand
