Comparing antibody and small-molecule therapies for cancer
The 'magic bullet' concept of specifically targeting cancer cells at the same time as sparing normal tissues is now proven, as several monoclonal antibodies and targeted small-molecule compounds haveExpand
Effect of radiation on the expression of carcinoembryonic antigen of human gastric adenocarcinoma cells
The results suggest that the enhancement of expression of CEA by radiation takes place at the CEA gene expression (mRNA) level but not at the protein level. Expand
Detection of circulating intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 antigen in malignant diseases
The findings suggest that serum ICAM‐1 antigen may be a useful marker to monitor tumor burden in cancer patients. Expand
Expression of MUC1 on myeloma cells and induction of HLA-unrestricted CTL against MUC1 from a multiple myeloma patient.
It is concluded that precursors of HLA-unrestricted and anti-MUC1 reactive CTL could exist in the peripheral blood of multiple myeloma patients and that Myeloma cells can express epitopes on MUC1, which can be recognized by the CTL. Expand
Heterogeneity in the expression of HLA and tumor-associated antigens by surgically removed and cultured breast carcinoma cells.
Analysis of primary tumors and autologous axillary lymph node metastasis from 13 patients has shown differences in the expression of all the antigens tested between primary and metastatic lesions. Expand
Soluble intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1) in sera and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary sarcoidosis
An interesting discrepancy between soluble ICAM‐1 levels in the circulation and BALF was found in IPF patients, and this might be an important clue to an understanding of this disorder. Expand
Molecular cloning of a novel protein‐tyrosine phosphatase SH‐PTP3 with sequence similarity to the src‐homology region 2
The isolation of a complementary DNA clone encoding a novel protein‐tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) from a human T cell PEER cDNA library is reported, and the predicted open reading frame encodes a protein composed of 593 amino acids which contains two src‐homology region 2's (SH2 domains) at the N terminus; this PTP is designated as SH‐PTP3. Serum levels of slCAM-1 and 5-S-cysteinyldopa as markers of melanoma progression
Serum levels of 5-S-CD may be a useful parameter for monitoring the clinical course of the disease in patients whose metastases are melanotic, and testing of sequential bleedings showed that both slCAM-1 and 5- S-CD levels were elevated in most of the patients whose disease had progressed. Expand
Radiotherapy for Kimura's disease: the optimum dosage.
Radiotherapy is an effective treatment for Kimura's disease and no surgical procedure other than a biopsy should be carried out, with a optimum dosage of 26-30 Gy regardless of tumor size. Expand
Genomic structure and sequence of a human homologue (NTHL1/NTH1) of Escherichia coli endonuclease III with those of the adjacent parts of TSC2 and SLC9A3R2 genes.
This paper demonstrates for the first time the spatial relationship of these three genes (TSC2, NTHL1 and SLC9A3R2) at the nucleotide level, and the presence of multiple transcription initiation sites of the NTHl1 and TSC2 genes. Expand
