Anti-inflammatory effects of schisandrin isolated from the fruit of Schisandra chinensis Baill.
In vitro results are the first that show that the anti-inflammatory properties of schisandrin result from the inhibition of nitric oxide production, prostaglandin E(2) (PGE(2)) release, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and inducible Nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression. Expand

Results suggested that Dipsacus asper due to its antioxidant constituents, 1-6, may have a role to play in preventing the development and progression of atherosclerotic disease. Expand
Green tea catechins as a BACE1 (β-secretase) inhibitor
In the course of searching for BACE1 (beta-secretase) inhibitors from natural products, the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of green tea, which was suspected to be rich in catechin content, showedExpand
Antifungal activity of magnolol and honokiol
Two neolignan compounds, magnolol and honokiol, were isolated from the stem bark of Magnolia obovata and evaluated for antifungal activity against various human pathogenic fungi and showed significant inhibitory activities against Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Candida albicans. Expand
Isolation and anticomplement activity of compounds from Dendropanax morbifera.
Dendropanax morbifera Leveille (Araliaceae) is used in Korea for a variety of disease, such as migraine headache and dysmenorrhea, and six known compounds were isolated from the leaves of this plant by conventional chromatographic techniques. Expand
Homoisoflavonoid derivatives from the roots of Ophiopogon japonicus and their in vitro anti-inflammation activity.
Three new homoisoflavonoids (1-3) were isolated from the roots of Ophiopogon japonicus (Liliaceae) and their effects on the release of the inflammatory chemokine eotaxin, stimulated by IL-4 and the combination of TNF-alpha in BEAS-2B cells, which mimics the in vivo conditions in bronchial allergic asthma. Antioxidant Activity of Anthraquinones and Flavonoids from Flower ofReynoutria sachalinensis
Bioassay-guided fractionation of methanol extract of Reynoutria sachalinensis flower using DPPH assay has led to the isolation of three anthraquinones and three flavonoids that had remarkable antioxidant activities. Expand
Aralia cordata protects against amyloid beta protein (25-35)-induced neurotoxicity in cultured neurons and has antidementia activities in mice.
Oleanolic acid isolated from A. cordata inhibited neuronal death, elevation of [Ca(2+)](i), glutamate release, and generation of ROS induced by Abeta(25-35) in cultured rat cortical neurons, suggesting that the neuroprotective effect of A. Cordata may be, at least in part, attributable to this compound. Expand
Anti-inflammatory activity of flavonoids fromPopulus davidiana
Anin vitro bioassay-guide revealed that the methanol (MeOH) extract of the stem bark ofPopulus davidiana showed considerable inhibitory activity against cyclooxygenase (COX-1, COX-2). ContinuousExpand

Structural-activity analysis showed that the furan rings of the polyphenols were essential for neuraminidase inhibitory activity, and that this activity was enhanced by the apioside group on the chalcone and flavanone backbone. Expand
