The synthesis has been achieved of water-soluble 6-O-monoesters of sucrose with natural coumarins — karatavikic and galvanic acids — by the transesterifacation of their methyl esters with sucrose. The structures of the compounds obtained have been confirmed by IR, UV, PMR, and13C NMR spectroscopies.
