We present a complete evaluation for J/ψ(ψ') prompt production at the Tevatron and LHC at next-to-leading order in nonrelativistic QCD, including color-singlet, color-octet, and higher charmonia feeddown contributions. The short-distance coefficients of 3P(J)([8]) at next-to-leading order are found to be larger than leading order by more than an order of… (More)

With nonrelativistic QCD factorization, we present a full next-to-leading order computation of the polarization observable for J/ψ production at hadron colliders including all important Fock states, i.e., 3S(1)([1,8]), 1S(0)([8]), and 3P(J)([8]). We find the 3P(J)([8]) channel contributes a positive longitudinal component and a negative transverse… (More)

In heavy quarkonium production, the measured ratio R_{cc[over ]}=sigma[J/psi+cc[over ]+X]/sigma[J/psi+X] at B factories is much larger than existing theoretical predictions. To clarify this discrepancy, in nonrelativistic QCD we find the next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD correction to e;{+}e;{-}-->J/psi+gg can enhance the cross section by about 20%. Together… (More)

The intrinsic spin Hall effect on spin accumulation and electric conductance in a diffusive regime of a 2D electron gas has been studied for a 2D strip of a finite width. It is shown that the spin polarization near the flanks of the strip, as well as the electric current in the longitudinal direction, exhibit damped oscillations as a function of the width… (More)

Combining the ideas of laser cooling and thermionic cooling, we have proposed an opto-thermionic cooling process, and investigated its cooling effect caused by the light emission from a quantum well embedded into a semiconductor pn junction. For a GaAs/AlGaAs opto-thermionic refrigerator in which the Auger recombination is the major nonradiative process,… (More)

We have investigated terahertz emission due to dynamical electron transport in wide-miniband GaAs/Al(0.3)Ga0.7As superlattices. By noting that the time-domain THz emission spectroscopy inherently measures the step-response of the electron system to the bias electric field, the obtained THz spectra were compared with the high-frequency conductivities… (More)

We suggest some possible interpretations for the D SJ (2632) observed by SELEX. The D SJ (2632) could be the first radial excitation of the 1 ground state Ds (2112), and its unusual decay patten might be hopefully explained by the node structure of the wave functions. In addition, the D SJ (2632) could also be a cs̄g hybrid state or a (cs)3∗ − (s̄s̄)3… (More)

In the framework of general two-Higgs-doublet models, we calculate the branching ratios of various inclusive charmless b decays by using the low energy effective Hamiltonian including next-to-leading order QCD corrections, and examine the current status and the new physics effects on the determination of the charm multiplicity nc and semileptonic branching… (More)

We present a complete evaluation for the prompt η_{c} production at the LHC at next-to-leading order in α_{s} in nonrelativistic QCD. By assuming heavy-quark spin symmetry, the recently observed η_{c} production data by LHCb results in a very strong constraint on the upper bound of the color-octet long-distance matrix element ⟨O^{J/ψ}(^{1}S_{0}^{[8]})⟩ of… (More)
