A Draft Sequence of the Rice Genome (Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica)
A draft sequence of the rice genome for the most widely cultivated subspecies in China, Oryza sativa L. ssp.indica, by whole-genome shotgun sequencing is produced, with a large proportion of rice genes with no recognizable homologs due to a gradient in the GC content of rice coding sequences.
A Draft Sequence of the Rice Genome (Oryza sativa L. ssp. japonica)
The genome of the japonica subspecies of rice, an important cereal and model monocot, was sequenced and assembled by whole-genome shotgun sequencing and suggests that the genome contains 32,000 to 50,000 genes.
The Genomes of Oryza sativa: A History of Duplications

    PLoS biology
  • 1 February 2005
A more inclusive new approach for analyzing duplication history is introduced here, which reveals an ancient whole-genome duplication, a recent segmental duplication on Chromosomes 11 and 12, and massive ongoing individual gene duplications.
The Schistosoma japonicum genome reveals features of host–parasite interplay
The genome provides a global insight into the molecular architecture and host interaction of this complex metazoan pathogen, revealing that it can exploit host nutrients, neuroendocrine hormones and signalling pathways for growth, development and maturation.
Genome sequence and genetic diversity of the common carp, Cyprinus carpio
A draft genome of domesticated C. carpio (strain Songpu) is presented, whose current assembly contains 52,610 protein-coding genes and approximately 92.3% coverage of its paleotetraploidized genome (2n = 100).
A pyrosequencing-based metagenomic study of methane-producing microbial community in solid-state biogas reactor
The identification of new bacterial genera and species involved in biogas production provides insights into novel designs of solid-state fermentation under mesophilic or low-temperature conditions.
The Complete Chloroplast Genome Sequence of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)
Unlike most monocots, date palm has a typical cp genome similar to that of tobacco—with little rearrangement and gene loss or gain.
A Comparison of Rice Chloroplast Genomes1[w]
The divergence of indica and japonica chloroplast genomes is dated as occurring approximately 86,000 to 200,000 years ago and the intersubspecific variations consisted of 72 single nucleotide polymorphisms and 27 insertions or deletions.
SilkDB: a knowledgebase for silkworm biology and genomics
  • J. Wang, Q. Xia, +18 authors Jun Yu
  • Computer Science, Biology
    Nucleic Acids Res.
  • 17 December 2004
The Silkworm Knowledgebase is a web-based repository for the curation, integration and study of silkworm genetic and genomic data and presents the silkworm genome and related information in systematic and graphical ways for the convenience of in-depth comparative studies.
Identification of a novel gene on chromosome 7q11.2 interrupted by a translocation breakpoint in a pair of autistic twins.
Although it is unlikely that AUTS2 is an autism susceptibility gene for idiopathic autism, it may be the gene responsible for the disorder in the twins studied here, and DNA sequence analysis of autism subjects and controls revealed 22 biallelic polymorphic sites.
