The intrinsic limitations of coronary arteriography to predict the physiological effects of coronary obstructions are well known. Therefore, more direct assessments of the functional significance of coronary stenoses are becoming increasingly important. Study of contrast passage by electrocardiogram-triggered digital radiography has been proposed as a way(More)
Over the last decade it has become more and more obvious that besides anatomical information about the severity of coronary artery stenoses, information about coronary and myocardial blood flow is necessary to understand the functional significance of these obstructions and to evaluate the result of an intervention. Several methods have been proposed for(More)
Pulsed Doppler measurements on both sides of the mitral valve and M-mode left ventricular echocardiograms were performed in 215 healthy subjects, 120 males and 95 females, between one and 65 years old, in order to evaluate normal diastolic filling patterns of the left ventricle. The relation between the maximum blood velocity during early passive filling (E(More)
AIMS Verification of the accuracy of onset, offset, and duration of automatic mode switching (AMS) of pacemakers compared with onset and end of atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial tachycardia (AT). Correct pacemaker diagnosis of atrial tachyarrhythmias (AA) is indispensable for reliable automatic prevention and intervention algorithms of AA. METHODS AND(More)
OBJECTIVE To obtain information on the occurrence of accelerated nodulosis during methotrexate (MTX) for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), localization, size and presence in heart and lungs of these nodules, predisposing factors, relationship with other extraarticular manifestations (EAM) and their histological features. METHODS Ten patients with accelerated(More)
The aim of the study was to evaluate the use of single gated pulsed Doppler cross-sectional echocardiography for measurement of the cardiac output. Pulsed Doppler echocardiography was used to assess both area and blood velocity at the aortic orifice. Stroke volume estimates were determined by multiplying area by systolic time velocity integral as measured(More)
A patient with a small ventricular septal defect complicated by an aneurysm of the membranous ventricular septum is reported. The aneurysm was diagnosed by left ventricular angiocardiography and, non-invasively, by echocardiography. The clinical significance of the anomaly is discussed in relation to the pertinent literature.
OBJECTIVE To study the possible pathophysiological implications of long continued dietary sodium restriction in pregnancy. DESIGN Longitudinal prospective randomized study of the effects of a low sodium diet compared with unrestricted sodium intake in pregnancy. SETTING Academic Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sint Radboud Hospital,(More)
The hemodynamic and neurohumoral responses to head-up tilt and isometric exercise were studied in 14 mitral valve prolapse (MVP) patients with and 10 MVP patients without complaints and in 16 healthy control subjects. Plasma catecholamines at rest were not different between the three groups and neither were their changes during either test. The hemodynamic(More)
