Architecture of a protein central to iron homeostasis: crystal structure and spectroscopic analysis of the ferric uptake regulator

The first crystal structure of Fur from P. aeruginosa is presented and a model for the activation and DNA binding of the Fur protein is presented, using X‐ray absorption spectroscopic measurements and microPIXE analysis to characterize the distinct zinc and iron binding sites in solution.

A chromosomally encoded type III secretion pathway in Yersinia enterocolitica is important in virulence
TLDR
The ysaV mutant strain was somewhat attenuated in virulence compared with the wild type in the mouse oral model of infection (an approximately 0.9 log difference in LD50), and was nearly as virulent as the wildtype when inoculated intraperitoneally in the mice model.
