With the increasing use of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for the treatment of head and neck cancer, radiation oncologists are expected to have an in-depth knowledge of the computed tomographic (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging anatomy of this region to be able to accurately characterize tumor extent and define organs at risk for(More)
The current study describes the influence of the passage of time on the original findings. The mechanisms used by some patients to reduce loading at the knee (adduction moment) also were analyzed. We evaluated the gait of twenty-seven patients (thirty-two knees) who had had a proximal tibial osteotomy for a varus gonarthrosis. Twenty-four patients(More)
OBJECTIVE This article describes the role of imaging in evaluating cervical lymphadenopathy in patients from birth to their mid-20s, illustrates imaging features of normal and abnormal lymph nodes, and highlights nodal imaging features and head and neck findings that assist in diagnosis. CONCLUSION Cervical lymph node abnormalities are commonly(More)

We reviewed the outcomes of 24 cases (24 patients) of uncemented total hip arthroplasty done to treat secondary osteoarthritis due to quiescent previous infection. There were 16 men and eight women aged from 24 to 78 years (mean, 50 yr). Eight patients had proven or probable tuberculous infection and the other 16 patients had a past history of septic hip.(More)
PURPOSE To measure changes in perfusion of the pharyngeal constrictor muscles (PCM) using CT perfusion (CTP) imaging during a course of definitive radiotherapy (RT) in head-and-neck cancer (HNC) patients and correlate with dysphagia outcome after RT. METHODS AND MATERIALS Fifteen HNC patients underwent CTP imaging of the PCM at baseline and Weeks 2, 4,(More)
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to correlate changes in computed tomography perfusion (CTP) parameters in the oropharyngeal mucosa following start of radiotherapy (RT) with acute mucositis in head and neck cancer patients. METHODS Fifteen patients were prospectively evaluated with serial CTP imaging. Computed tomography perfusion studies were(More)
The HemoQuant test includes the measurement of total fecal hemoglobin (Hb) or porphyrin derived from heme, and of intestinal converted fraction (ICF) which is the performed porphyrin probably by bacteria during enterocolic transit. The mean±SD of HemoQuant in 31 healthy subjects was 0.57±0.49 mg Hb/g stool, values above 2 mg Hb/g stool are considered to be(More)
