- Mina Kim, H. Um, Yang-Hoon Kim
- EngineeringEnvironmental Science and Technology
- 12 November 2009
Single-stranded DNA aptamers generated from a random library to remove arsenic from Vietnamese groundwater revealed the Ars-3 aptamer to have the highest affinity to arsenate and arsenite with a dissociation constant of 4.95 +/-0.31 and 7.05 +/- 0.91 nM, respectively.
Diversity and physiological properties of root endophytic actinobacteria in native herbaceous plants of Korea
- Tae-Ui Kim, Sung-Heun Cho, Ji-Hye Han, Y. Shin, H. Lee, S. Kim
- BiologyJournal of Microbiology
- 27 February 2012
Endophytic actinobacterial diversity in the native herbaceous plant species of Korea was analyzed using a culture-based approach and most strains of Streptomyces proved active for both enzymatic and antagonistic activities.
Gramella gaetbulicola sp. nov., a member of the family Flavobacteriaceae isolated from foreshore soil.
- Sung-Heun Cho, Song-Hee Chae, S. Kim
- BiologyInternational Journal of Systematic and…
- 1 November 2011
DNA-DNA relatedness, phenotypic, genotypic and chemotaxonomic data clearly indicate that the isolate represents a novel species of the genus Gramella, for which the name GrAMElla gaetbulicola sp.
Parkinson’s disease-associated LRRK2-G2019S mutant acts through regulation of SERCA activity to control ER stress in astrocytes
- J. Lee, Ji-Hye Han, Hyunmi Kim, S. Park, E. Joe, I. Jou
- BiologyActa Neuropathologica Communications
- 2 May 2019
The data suggest that, in astrocytes, LRRK2-GS impairs ER Ca2+ homeostasis, which determines cell survival, and as a result, could contribute to the development of PD.
Phylogenetic diversity of acidophilic sporoactinobacteria isolated from various soils.
- Sung-Heun Cho, Ji-Hye Han, C. Seong, S. Kim
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Microbiology
- 1 December 2006
It is evident from this study that acidity has played a critical role in the differentiation of the family Streptomycetaceae, and also that different mechanisms might have resulted in the evolution of two groups, Streptacidiphilus (strict acidophiles) and neutrotolerant acidophilic StrePTomyces.
Nocardioides endophyticus sp. nov. and Nocardioides conyzicola sp. nov., isolated from herbaceous plant roots.
- Ji-Hye Han, Tae-Su Kim, S. Kim
- BiologyInternational Journal of Systematic and…
- 1 December 2013
16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that the isolates, designated MWE 3-5(T) and HWE 2-02(T), should be placed in the genus Nocardioides of the family N Cardioidaceae, and the following two novel species are proposed.
Paenibacillus oenotherae sp. nov. and Paenibacillus hemerocallicola sp. nov., isolated from the roots of herbaceous plants.
- Tae-Su Kim, Ji-Hye Han, Yochan Joung, S. Kim
- BiologyInternational Journal of Systematic and…
- 1 August 2015
Two Gram-staining-positive, aerobic, endospore-forming, motile bacteria, strains DT7-4T and DLE-12T, were isolated from roots of evening primrose and day lily and subjected to taxonomic characterization, indicating that the two strains fell into two distinct phylogenetic clusters belonging to the genus Paenibacillus.
Antibiotic resistance among aquatic bacteria in natural freshwater environments of Korea.
- Tae Woon Kim, Yochan Joung, Ji-Hye Han, W. Jung, S. Kim
- Environmental Science, BiologyJournal of Water and Health
- 1 December 2015
It is apparent from this study that penicillin resistance is widespread among environmental bacteria, although the antibiotic has been generally non-detectable in the environment and various sources including terrestrial animals and humans may contribute to antibiotic resistance in the freshwater environment.

Comparison of bacterial composition between human saliva and dental unit water system.
- Eun-Hyoung Jeon, Ji-Hye Han, T. Ahn
- BiologyJournal of Microbiology
- 1 February 2007
The bacterial compositions between the dental unit water system and human saliva were characterized and compared by direct sequence analysis of 16S rDNA clone libraries and the phylum Proteobacteria was the major group in both clone libraries at phylum level.
