A morphological and morphometrical study has been carried out on glomerular lesions in mink with spontaneous Aleutian disease, using the WHO classification for Systemic Lupus Erytematous Nefritis. 154 renal samples from sick animals and 10 samples from uninfected mink were processed by routine histopathological techniques and metacrylate inclusions. The(More)
Patients and methods Thirty patients were treated with radiation therapy between 1996–2002. We use the AJCC 2002 classification for the patients and also they were stratified according to the extent of disease. Variables like age, clinical stage, tumor extension, involvement of anterior commissure, Karnofsky index, total dose, field size, protraction, beam(More)
INTRODUCTION Primary orthostatic tremor (OT) is defined as a clinical syndrome with high frequency (13-18 Hz) tremor when standing predominantly involving legs and trunk. OT is thought to be driven by an unique supraspinal tremor generator. Previous studies suggest that the nigrostriatal dopaminergic transmission is impaired in patients with OT. CLINICAL(More)

OBJECTIVE The aim of our study was to assess the clinical effectiveness of a simplified algorithm using the Wells clinical decision rule, D-dimer testing, and computed tomography (CT) in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism (PE) in an Emergency Department (ED). METHODS Patients with clinically suspected PE from the Emergency Department were included(More)
In 1929, Critchley introduced the term “vascular parkinsonim” (VP), which has been the subject of considerable controversy in neurology. Parkinsonism does not appear to be a frequent consequence of striatal infarcts, although unilateral parkinsonim has been reported as an acute or subacute onset syndrome following strategic infarcts in the striatum.(More)
Pentoxifylline (PTX), a xanthine derivative used in the treatment of circulatory insufficiency, has been found to have protective effects in different models of sepsis. We hypothesized that this drug might either increase oxygen delivery (DO2) and/or increase tissue oxygen -extraction to meet oxygen demand in sepsis. We studied the effects of PTX on the(More)
We studied the prognostic influence and evolution of blood pressure during the acute phase of stroke in 89 patients (50 men and 39 women) with an average age of 69.4 +/- 10.8 years. Seventy-two were diagnosed as having ischaemic infarct and 17 as having spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage. Blood pressure was taken every four hours for twelve days.(More)
A toy poodle bitch had an abnormal oestrus cycle and apparently persistent follicles. Hormonal therapy was unsuccessful. The bitch was ovariohysterectomised and gross and histological evaluation of the ovaries and uterus, together with karyotyping, led to a diagnosis of 77,XO-78,XX mosaicism.
