Chloroplasts of maize leaves differentiate into specific bundle sheath (BS) and mesophyll (M) types to accommodate C(4) photosynthesis. Chloroplasts contain thylakoid and envelope membranes that contain the photosynthetic machineries and transporters but also proteins involved in e.g. protein homeostasis. These chloroplast membranes must be specialized(More)
OBJECTIVE Although doctor-patient communication has been the focus of numerous studies, there is a lack of empirical evidence on which to base a curriculum for teaching effective communication skills for use in an oncology setting. The seasonal pattern of development of Haemonchus contortus eggs to infective larvae was investigated on the south coast of Western Australia. Sheep faeces containing H. contortus eggs were deposited on pasture plots at intervals over a 3-year period, and pasture grass and faeces were sampled periodically for infective larvae (L3). The maximum recoveries(More)
Saliva is a body fluid with important functions in oral and general health. A consortium of three research groups catalogued the proteins in human saliva collected as the ductal secretions: 1166 identifications--914 in parotid and 917 in submandibular/sublingual saliva--were made. The results showed that a high proportion of proteins that are found in(More)
Results are presented on tests carried out over the past 5 years to measure the antibody titre of various rabbit populations to a soluble antigen of myxoma virus. In an unexpectedly high percentage of immune rabbits the antibody fell below measurable titres, and later rose to measurable titres without the advent of an observable epizootic of myxomatosis.(More)
Using a technique of proven efficiency no Toxocara canis eggs were recovered from a total of 266 sand samples collected from "dog beaches" and parks in the Perth urban area. This observation emphasises that the major risk to humans is from an environment in which puppies are found. Other observations, made at a heavily contaminated site, showed that the(More)
