Search for cell motility and angiogenesis inhibitors with potential anticancer activity: beauvericin and other constituents of two endophytic strains of Fusarium oxysporum.
TLDR
Beauvericin (1) inhibited migration of the metastatic prostate cancer and breast cancer cells and showed antiangiogenic activity in HUVEC-2 cells at sublethal concentrations, and 6-deoxybikaverin (7) was completely devoid of activity, suggesting the requirement of the C-6 hydroxy group of bkaverin for its cytotoxic activity.
Enzymatic synthesis of aromatic polyketides using PKS4 from Gibberella fujikuroi.
TLDR
This work has demonstrated the E. coli expression and reconstitution of an iterative, unreduced fungal PKS, which selectively used octanoyl-CoA as the starter unit and synthesized two novel benzopyrone-containing polyketides.
Type III polyketide synthases in natural product biosynthesis
TLDR
Recent studies on type III PKSs identified from plants, bacteria, and fungi are introduced, and the catalytic functions of these enzymes in detail are described in detail.
Characterization of a tryptophan 6-halogenase from Streptomyces toxytricini
TLDR
Analysis of the genome of Streptomyces toxytricini NRRL 15443 revealed an ORF, stth, encoding a putative Trp halogenase within a non-ribosomal peptide synthetase gene cluster, which halogenated both l- and d-Trp to yield the corresponding 6-chlorinated derivatives.
Cytotoxic and other metabolites of Aspergillus inhabiting the rhizosphere of Sonoran desert plants.
In a study to discover potential anticancer agents from rhizosphere fungi of Sonoran desert plants cytotoxic EtOAc extracts of four Aspergillus strains have been investigated. Two new metabolites,
An indigoidine biosynthetic gene cluster from Streptomyces chromofuscus ATCC 49982 contains an unusual IndB homologue
TLDR
A putative indigoidine biosynthetic gene cluster was located in the genome of Streptomyces chromofuscus ATCC 49982 and the predicted protein product of Sc-indB is unusual and much larger than any other reported IndB-like protein.
Production of Indole-3-Acetic Acid via the Indole-3-Acetamide Pathway in the Plant-Beneficial Bacterium Pseudomonas chlororaphis O6 Is Inhibited by ZnO Nanoparticles but Enhanced by CuO Nanoparticles
TLDR
Sublethal levels of CuO and ZnO NPs differentially affected the levels of IAA secreted in medium containing tryptophan as the precursor and raised the issue of whether sublethal doses of NPs would modify the beneficial effects of association between plants and bacteria.
Identifying the minimal enzymes required for anhydrotetracycline biosynthesis.
TLDR
A "non-natural" anhydrotetracycline derivative was generated, demonstrating that the heterologous host/vector pair can be a useful platform toward the engineered biosynthesis of tetracyCline analogues.
Identification and heterologous reconstitution of a 5-alk(en)ylresorcinol synthase from endophytic fungus Shiraia sp. Slf14
TLDR
expression of SsARS in the yeast also led to the synthesis of the same polyketide products, indicating that this enzyme can be reconstituted in both heterologous hosts.
