The clinical significance of flow cytometric c-myc oncoprotein quantitation in testicular cancer.
A sensitive flow cytometric assay has been developed using a monoclonal antibody, Myc 1-6E10, to quantitate c-myc oncoprotein levels in nuclei isolated from wax embedded testicular tumours, finding that patients with intermediate and undifferentiated tumours who developed recurrence had lower p62c- myc levels than those who were disease free since their initial treatment. Effect of cell density on intracellular adriamycin concentration and cytotoxicity in exponential and plateau phase EMT6 cells.
It is concluded that the surviving fraction is dependent on the proliferative state of the cells and in order to draw that conclusion it is important to relate the ADM effect on cells in vitro to the total ADM available to each cell. Expand
A linear transform of the multi-target survival curve.
- J. Watson
- The British journal of radiology
- 1 July 1978
A completely linear transform of the multi-target survival curve is presented, which enables all data, including those on the shoulder region of the curve, to be analysed and predicts compatibility with the hypothesis of a true oxygen "dose-modification" whereas the conventional Pike-Alper analysis does not. Erythropoietin receptor transcription is neither elevated nor predictive of surface expression in human tumour cells
- A. Sinclair, N. Rogers, +8 authors S. Elliott
- Biology, Medicine
- British Journal of Cancer
- 18 March 2008
No evidence that EpoR is overexpressed in tumours or gets to the surface of tumour cells is found, suggesting that there is no selective advantage for tumours to overexpress EpOR and questions the functional relevance ofEpoR gene transcription in tumour origin. Expand
c-myc oncoprotein levels in bladder cancer
Preliminary findings indicate that oncoprotein levels might have prognostic significance for bladder cancer. Expand
What does "response" in cancer chemotherapy really mean?
- J. Watson
- British medical journal
- 4 July 1981
The British Diabetic Association determined to seek standardisation of insulin strength at U100 in the hope that the change to U100 will come in 1982, and believes that the great majority of doctors accept that the interest and safety of diabetic patients is best served by this change. Expand
A simultaneous flow cytometric assay for c-myc oncoprotein and DNA in nuclei from paraffin embedded material.
A simultaneous flow cytometric assay for the c-myc oncoprotein and DNA in nuclei extracted from archival paraffin wax embedded clinical biopsies is presented and illustrated withBiopsies from patients with testicular cancer and with benign and malignant neoplasms of the colon. Expand
Effects of x-radiation on the spinal cord: an experimental study of the morphological changes in central nerve fibres.
- F. Mastaglia, W. Mcdonald, J. Watson, K. Yogendran
- Brain : a journal of neurology
- 1 March 1976
The morphological changes in central nerve fibres after irradiation have been studied in the spinal cord of young adult rats exposed to 100-6 000 rad doses of 250 kV x-rays using the technique of… Expand
Establishment and characterisation of cell lines from patients with lung cancer (predominantly small cell carcinoma).
- H. Baillie-Johnson, P. Twentyman, +6 authors N. Bleehen
- British Journal of Cancer
- 1 October 1985
Tissue samples from 59 patients with lung cancer have been used to establish cell lines in culture and considerable heterogeneity in gross morphology, neuroendocrine differentiation, and content of the enzyme L-dopa decarboxylase was seen was seen. Expand
A randomized study of misonidazole and radiotherapy for grade 3 and 4 cerebral astrocytoma.
No significant differences were seen between the median survivals of patients in the 2 control radiation groups and that of the third group in which oral misonidazole at a dose of 3 g/m2 preceded each of 4 weekly radiation doses. Expand
