BH3-only Protein Noxa Is a Mediator of Hypoxic Cell Death Induced by Hypoxia-inducible Factor 1α
- Jee-Youn Kim, H. Ahn, J. Ryu, K. Suk, Jae-hoon Park
- BiologyJournal of Experimental Medicine
- 5 January 2004
The results show that Noxa is induced by HIF-1α and mediates hypoxia-induced cell death and reactive oxygen species and resultant cytochrome c release participate in NoxA-mediated hypoxic cell death.
Tau Phosphorylation at Serine 396 Residue Is Required for Hippocampal LTD
- P. Regan, T. Piers, Kwangwook Cho
- Biology, PsychologyJournal of Neuroscience
- 25 March 2015
It is found that an AMPA receptor internalization mechanism is impaired in tau KO mice, and that LTD causes specific phosphorylation at the serine 396 and 404 residues of tau.

Chronic exposure to ethanol of male mice before mating produces attention deficit hyperactivity disorder‐like phenotype along with epigenetic dysregulation of dopamine transporter expression in mouse…

- BiologyJournal of Neuroscience Research
- 1 May 2014
It is suggested that preconceptional exposure to EtOH through the paternal route induces behavioral changes in offspring, possibly via epigenetic changes in gene expression, which is essential for the regulation of ADHD‐like behaviors.
6-Shogaol, a ginger product, modulates neuroinflammation: A new approach to neuroprotection

Induction of matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP‐9) in lipopolysaccharide‐stimulated primary astrocytes is mediated by extracellular signal‐regulated protein kinase 1/2 (Erk1/2)
The results from the present study suggest that induction of MMP‐9 by LPS in rat primary astrocytes is mediated, at least in part, by the sequential activation of PKC and Erk1/2.
Ginseng in Traditional Herbal Prescriptions
- Ho Jae Park, Dong Hyun Kim, Se Jin Park, Jong Min Kim, J. Ryu
- Biology, MedicineJournal of Ginseng Research
- 1 July 2012
The present review on the functions of ginseng in traditional prescriptions helps to demystifyginseng and, as a result, may contribute to expanding the use of gINSeng or ginsENG-containing prescriptions.
Male‐specific alteration in excitatory post‐synaptic development and social interaction in pre‐natal valproic acid exposure model of autism spectrum disorder
- Ki Chan Kim, P. Kim, C. Shin
- Biology, PsychologyJournal of Neurochemistry
- 1 March 2013
The results suggest that prenatally VPA‐exposed rats show the male preponderance of ASD‐like behaviors including defective social interaction similar to human autistic patients, which might be caused by ectopic increase in glutamatergic synapses in male rats.
