Physiological time-series analysis using approximate entropy and sample entropy.
A new and related complexity measure is developed, sample entropy (SampEn), and a comparison of ApEn and SampEn is compared by using them to analyze sets of random numbers with known probabilistic character, finding SampEn agreed with theory much more closely than ApEn over a broad range of conditions.

Results show that entropy falls before clinical signs of neonatal sepsis and that missing points are well tolerated, and proposes more informed selection of parameters and reexamination of studies where approximate entropy was interpreted solely as a regularity measure.
Accurate estimation of entropy in very short physiological time series: the problem of atrial fibrillation detection in implanted ventricular devices.
The optimized sample entropy estimate and the mean heart beat interval each contributed to accurate detection of AF in as few as 12 heartbeats, and the coefficient of sample entropy (COSEn) has high degrees of accuracy in distinguishing AF from normal sinus rhythm in 12-beat calculations performed hourly.
Mat-8, a Novel Phospholemman-like Protein Expressed in Human Breast Tumors, Induces a Chloride Conductance in Xenopus Oocytes (*)

These findings suggest that Mat-8 and PLM, the products of distinct genes, are related proteins that serve as Cl channels or Cl channel regulators but have different roles in cell and organ physiology.
Serine 68 phosphorylation of phospholemman: acute isoform-specific activation of cardiac Na/K ATPase.
Assessment of Global Atrial Fibrillation Organization to Optimize Timing of Atrial Defibrillation
Fl frequency domain analysis of a wide bipolar interatrial electrogram describes the global organization of atrial fibrillation and should vary over time and shock efficacy is increased when shocks are delivered during periods of high AF organization as determined by the OI method.
A new algorithm for detecting central apnea in neonates.
A new filter to remove the cardiac signal from the CI that employs a novel resampling technique optimally suited toremove the heart rate signal, allowing improved apnea detection is reported and an apnea Detection method that employs the CI after cardiac filtering is developed.

Continuous HRC monitoring is a generally valid and potentially useful noninvasive tool in the early diagnosis of neonatal sepsis and sepsi-like illness.
Hyperpolarization-activated chloride currents in Xenopus oocytes

During hyperpolarizing pulses, defolliculated Xenopus oocytes have time- and voltage-dependent inward chloride currents that are insensitive to Ca2+ and pH; are blocked by Ba2- and some chloride channel blockers; and have a gating valence of approximately 1.3 charges.
