Childhood vulvar lichen sclerosus: an increasingly common problem.
TLDR
Although the cause of LS remains uncertain, it is not a rare disease in prepubertal girls and current optimal management includes prompt diagnosis and institution of treatment with a potent topical steroid.
Does treatment of vulvar lichen sclerosus influence its prognosis?
TLDR
Topical ultrapotent steroid is an effective treatment for vulvar lichen sclerosus, giving relief of symptoms in most and completely reversing the skin changes in approximately one fifth of patients.
Evidence‐based (S3) Guideline on (anogenital) Lichen sclerosus
TLDR
The gold standard for treatment remains potent to very potent topical steroids; however, mild and moderate disease in boys and men may be cured by circumcision.
Pemphigoid gestationis: early onset and blister formation are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes
TLDR
The objective of this study was to establish whether and how the clinical features of pemphigoid gestationis, such as timing of onset and severity, may affect pregnancy outcomes.
High incidence of lichen sclerosus in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the penis
TLDR
There appears to be a definite association between SCC of the penis and the presence of LS, similar to that reported between LS and vulval SCC in women.
Lichen sclerosus premenarche: autoimmunity and immunogenetics
TLDR
HLA tissue typing and autoimmune associations in a group of 30 children with vulval lichen sclerosus found the family history of autoimmunity appears to be strong in the early‐onset group, in addition to the stronger association with DQ7.
Childhood vulvar lichen sclerosus. The course after puberty.
TLDR
Patients should be aware that LS may improve symptomatically but usually does not entirely resolve at puberty and that the disease in women may be associated with development of vulvar SCC.
The Association Between HLA DR, DQ Antigens, and Vulval Lichen Sclerosus in the UK: HLA DRB1*12 and its Associated DRB1*12/DQB1*0301/04/09/010 Haplotype Confers Susceptibility to Vulval Lichen
TLDR
This study aimed to validate and detect new HLA-DR and DQ associations with LS in females and its characteristic clinical parameters and found increased frequency of DRB1*12 (DR12) in females.
Evidence‐based (S3) Guideline on (anogenital) Lichen sclerosus
TLDR
The gold standard for treatment remains potent to very potent topical steroids; however, mild and moderate disease in boys and men may be cured by circumcision.
Immunoblotting and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay for the Diagnosis of Pemphigoid Gestationis
TLDR
This study shows that immunoblotting and ELISA are sensitive tools for the detection of autoantibodies to bullous pemphigoid antigen 180 in patients with pemPHigoid gestationis and that the ELISA is useful to monitorAutoantibody serum levels.
