Distribution of a lidocaine-methylene blue solution staining in brachial plexus, lumbar plexus and sciatic nerve blocks in the dog.
- L. Campoy, M. Martin‐Flores, M. Asakawa
- Medicine, BiologyVeterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
- 1 July 2008
Volumes of 0.3 and 0.05 mL kg(-1) produced sufficient distribution for performing brachial plexus, and sciatic nerve blocks, respectively, but it is suggested the H group volume to balance sufficient and excessive staining.
Perioperative risk factors for puppies delivered by cesarean section in the United States and Canada.
- P. Moon, H. Erb, J. Ludders, R. Gleed, P. Pascoe
- MedicineThe Journal of the American Animal Hospital…
- 1 July 2000
A model of cesarean-derived puppies surviving to birth, between birth and two hours, and between two hours and seven days was designed to relate litter survival to perioperative factors.

Isoflurane Anesthesia in Sandhill Cranes (Grus canadensis): Minimal Anesthetic Concentration and Cardiopulmonary Dose‐response During Spontaneous and Controlled Breathing
- J. Ludders, Jennifer Rode, G. Mitchell
- MedicineAnesthesia and Analgesia
- 1 April 1989
Isoflurane has dose-dependent effects on cardiopulmonary function qualitatively similar to those observed in mammals, and these effects are similar to values for isoflurane minimal anesthetic concentration in mammals.
Comparison between facemask and laryngeal mask airway in rabbits during isoflurane anesthesia.
- L. Bateman, J. Ludders, R. Gleed, H. Erb
- MedicineVeterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
- 1 September 2005
An LMA provided a better airway than afacemask during spontaneous breathing in rabbits, as the use of a facemask was associated with hypercapnia and low partial pressures of oxygen.
Comparison of bupivacaine femoral and sciatic nerve block versus bupivacaine and morphine epidural for stifle surgery in dogs.
- L. Campoy, M. Martin‐Flores, J. Ludders, H. Erb, R. Gleed
- MedicineVeterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
- 2012
F + S is a practical alternative to EPID that produces less urine retention and reduces opioid consumption in the 24 hours after surgery and might be associated with a lower isoflurane requirement and lower systemic blood pressure.
Minimal anesthetic concentration and cardiopulmonary dose response of isoflurane in ducks.
- J. Ludders, G. Mitchell, J. Rode
- MedicineVeterinary surgery
- 1 July 1990
The minimal anesthetic concentration (MAC) for isoflurane was determined during spontaneous ventilation in nine male Peking ducks and an index of anesthetic-induced apnea (Al) was calculated from ducks that became apneic.
Perioperative management and mortality rates of dogs undergoing cesarean section in the United States and Canada.
- P. Moon, H. Erb, J. Ludders, R. Gleed, P. Pascoe
- MedicineJournal of the American Veterinary Medical…
- 1 August 1998
Dogs undergoing cesarean section in the United States and Canada are described to determine perioperative management, and survival proportions to calculate survival proportions, to help veterinarians advise clients on the likelihood of puppy and dam survival associated with cesAREan section.
Procedural sedation combined with locoregional anesthesia for orthopedic surgery of the pelvic limb in 10 dogs: case series.
- L. Campoy, M. Martin‐Flores, J. Ludders, R. Gleed
- MedicineVeterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
- 1 July 2012
When combined with femoral and sciatic nerve blocks, procedural sedation has the potential of being an alternative to general anesthesia for orthopedic surgery involving the stifle and structures distal to it in the dog.
Recent advances in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia: companion animals.

It is important that the overall clinical condition of the bird be considered during selection of an anesthetic protocol and to calculate and prepare doses of standard emergency and supportive drugs such as epinephrine, doxapram, lidocaine, and atropine before inducing anesthesia.
