Sources of variance in 24-hour dietary recall data: implications for nutrition study design and interpretation.
A method for producing a laminated metal ribbon comprises the steps of (a) vapor-depositing a third metal layer on at least one welding surface of a first metal ribbon 4 and a second metal ribbon 5Expand
Hypertriglyceridemia associated with deficiency of apolipoprotein C-II.
A 59-year-old man with severe hypertriglyceridemia and no post-heparin lipolytic activity was studied and it is concluded that this patient's hyperlipoproteinemia resulted from a deficiency of apolipoprotein C-II. Expand
Source of variance in 24-hour dietary recall data: implications for nutrition study design and interpretation. Carbohydrate sources, vitamins, and minerals.
The major partitioning of variance was between interindividual variation (between subjects) and intraindividual variation (within subjects) which included both true day-to-day variation in intake and methodological variation. Expand
Inheritance of apolipoprotein C-II deficiency with hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis.
A study of the relatives of a patient with apolipoprotein C-II deficiency showed that the defect is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait and should be considered in patients with markedly elevated plasma triglycerides who have apparent lipoprotein lipase deficiency, and usually also have pancreatitis. Leguminous seeds in the dietary management of hyperlipidemia.
Reintroduction of dried leguminous seeds into a Western diet may be a useful adjunct to the management of hyperlipidemia, and no change was seen in macronutrient intake determined by 1-wk diet histories recorded both before and four times during the study. Expand
Hepatic lipase deficiency. Clinical, biochemical, and molecular genetic characteristics.
HL deficiency associated with structural variation of the HL gene is characterized by premature atherosclerosis, triglyceride enrichment of lipoprotein fractions with d > 1.006 g/mL, the presence of circulating beta-very low density lipoproteins, and abnormal catabolism of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproduins. Expand
Plasma lipids and lipoprotein reference values, and the prevalence of dyslipoproteinemia in Canadian adults. Canadian Heart Health Surveys Research Group.
The high prevalence of Canadian adults at risk because of elevated Plasma lipid levels strongly indicates the need for comprehensive public health programs to reduce plasma lipid levels in the population and the need to encourage physicians to treat those at high risk. Expand
Sex difference in high density lipoprotein cholesterol in six countries.
The authors examined the association between HDL cholesterol and biologic sex in 8,631 women and 10,690 men aged 45-54 years from six countries studied between 1972 and 1989 to find the sex difference was significant. Expand
Lipoprotein abnormalities associated with a familial deficiency of hepatic lipase.
It is proposed that the presence of LDL and HDL 2 , which are relatively enriched in triglyceride and phosphatidyl choline, are a consequence of a deficiency of hepatic lipase. Expand
The role of lipoprotein lipase in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins by macrophages.
It is shown that when albumin is present in the medium, the macrophage is capable of mobilizing most of its stored triglyceride over 24 h, even as its cholesteryl ester content remains constant. Expand
