Enrichment of microbial community generating electricity using a fuel-cell-type electrochemical cell

It is demonstrated that an electricity-generating microbial consortium can be enriched using a fuel cell and that the electrochemical activity is a form of anaerobic electron transfer.
Inhibition of Candida albicans biofilm and hyphae formation by biocompatible oligomers
Investigation of the abilities of thermoresponsive oligomers of N‐vinylcaprolactam (OVCLs) to inhibit biofilm formation by Candida albicans found that OVCLs clearly inhibited hyphal formation and cell aggregation by C.Albicans, and this appeared to be responsible for their antibiofilm effects.

To probe the inhibitory effects of deoxynivalenol on growth and biofilms of yeast and bacterial pathogens, a new substance is developed that acts as a ‘spatially aggregating agent’ to halt the growth of these pathogens.
