Anti-oedematous activities of the main triterpendiol esters of marigold (Calendula officinalis L.).
- K. Zitterl-Eglseer, S. Sosa, +5 authors C. Franz
- Biology, Medicine
- Journal of ethnopharmacology
- 1 July 1997
Faradiol was more active than its esters and than psi-taraxasterol and showed the same effect as an equimolar dose of indomethacin, while faradiol-3-myristic acid ester 1 showed nearly the same dose dependent anti-oedematous activity and no significant synergism appeared with their mixture. Expand
Sesquiterpenes and Flavonoid Aglycones from a Hungarian Taxon of the Achillea millefolium Group
- S. Glasl, P. Mučaji, I. Werner, A. Presser, J. Jurenitsch
- Medicine, Biology
- Zeitschrift fur Naturforschung. C, Journal of…
- 1 December 2002
The investigation of a dichloromethane extract of flower heads of a Hungarian taxon of the Achillea millefolium group led to the isolation of three flavonoid aglycones, one triterpene, one germacranolide and five guaianolides, which are reported here for the first time. Expand
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L. s.l.): pharmaceutical quality of commercial samples.
The main pharmacologically active principles were shown to be the essential oil (antimicrobial), proazulenes and other sesquiterpene lactones, dicaffeoylquinic acids (choleretic) and flavonoids (antispasmodic), and the quality of the drug material was very heterogenous. Expand
Anti-edematous activity of sesquiterpene lactones from different taxa of the Achillea millefolium group
Chemotaxonomic relevance of sesquiterpenes within the Achillea millefolium group
The chemotaxonomic relevance of sesquiterpenoids within the Achillea millefolium group has been evaluated by means of morphological, anatomical, cytological and phytochemical data and characteristic for each species are shown. Expand
Topical anti-inflammatory activity of a new germacrane derivative from Achillea pannonica.
- S. Sosa, A. Tubaro, U. Kastner, S. Glasl, J. Jurenitsch, R. Della Loggia
- Planta medica
- 1 October 2001
The topical anti-inflammatory activity of a germacrane derivative isolated from Achillea pannonica Scheele was investigated employing the Croton oil-induced dermatitis in the mouse ear and its effects on the oedematous response and on leukocytes infiltration are described. Expand
A triterpene saponin from Herniaria glabra.
- H. Schröder, M. Schubert-Zsilavecz, G. Reznicek, J. Cart, J. Jurenitsch, E. Haslinger
- Biology, Medicine
- 1 December 1993
A new acetylated triterpene saponin was isolated from Herniaria glabra. GC, GC-MS, FAB-MS analysis and the use of 2D NMR techniques allowed the elucidation of its structure as… Expand
Eudesmanolides from Achillea pratensis
From flower heads of Achillea pratensis five eudesmanolides were isolated by repeated column chromatography and HPLC and identified as tauremisin, arglanin, 4α-hydroperoxy-4α-dehydroxy-arglanin and santamarin. Expand
Composition of the Essential Oils of Commercial Samples of Salvia officinalis L. and S. fruticosa Miller: A Comparison of Oils Obtained by Extraction and Steam Distillation
The essential oils of commercially available samples of leaves of Salvia officinalis L. and S. fruticosa MILLER obtained by steam-distillation and dichloromethane extraction were analysed by gas… Expand
Morphogenetic variability of faradiol monoesters in marigold Calendula officinalis L.

- Chemistry, Medicine
- Phytochemical analysis : PCA
- 1 May 2001
These faradiol-3-O-monoesters have been quantified for the first time by means of reversed phase HPLC with internal standardisation in different parts of C. officinalis plants, namely ray florets, disk florests, involucral bracts, receptacles, levaes and seeds. Expand
