Identification of a substrate site for transglutaminases on the human protein synthesis initiation factor 5A.
Data indicate that hypusine-50 of the eIF-5A chain functions as acyl acceptor substrate for TGases, and reveal that eIF -5A may be cross-linked to intracellular proteins by TGases.
Functional characterization of p53 molecules expressed in human squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck
Aberrant p53 function as a result of mutation or altered expression characterizes oral squamous cell carcinomas and the inhibitory activity of these molecules may be a mechanism for deregulation of the function of co‐expressed wild‐type p53 that may be of importance during the early stages of tumor development.
Altered expression and activity of G1/S cyclins and cyclin‐dependent kinases characterize squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck
The data suggest that cell‐cycle deregulation is likely to occur by multiple mechanisms during the genesis of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas as p16INK4A is likely be the primary target for inactivation on chromosome 9p21 in these tumors as p15INK4B loss occurs less frequently.
Beneficial effects of aminoguanidine on the cardiovascular system of diabetic rats
The study focused on investigating the effect of aminoguanidine on cardiovascular damages in diabetes and the possible mechanisms of its action.
