Protective effects of the aerial parts of Salvia officinalis, Melissa Officinalis and Lavandula angustifolia and their constituents against enzyme-dependent and enzyme-independent lipid peroxidation.
The antioxidant effects of aqueous methanolic extracts from three medicinal Lamiaceae species were investigated and Phenolic components present in the plant extracts were evaluated for antioxidant activity and were found effective in both tests.
In vitro search for synergy between flavonoids and epirubicin on multidrug-resistant cancer cells.
The most effective multidrug resistance (MDR) resistance modifiers, amorphigenin, formononetin, rotenone and chrysin, were assayed for their antiproliferative effects in combination with epirubicin and showed additive effects.
Inhibition of quorum‐sensing signals by essential oils
The role of quorum sensing is well known in microbial pathogenicity and antibiotic resistance, and the inhibition of QS signals reduces the problem of resistance and virulence.
Alkaloids from Leucojum vernum and antiretroviral activity of Amaryllidaceae alkaloids.
Three alkaloids, lycorine, homolycorine and 2- O-acetylly Corine, were isolated from the bulbs of Leucojum vernum (Amaryllidaceae) and identified by means of NMR analysis and demonstrate that trisphaeridine, lyCorine, Homolycorines and haemanthamine possess high antiretroviral activities.
Diterpenoids from Euphorbia peplus.
From a pro-inflammatory active extract of Euphorbia peplus, two new diterpene polyesters based on the pepluane and jatrophane skeletons were isolated and Genol 3-angelate, which was obtained for the first time from this plant, is an irritant toxin with high activity.
