Systematics of the Caligidae, Copepods Parasitic on Marine Fishes
This book provides a comprehensive generic revision of the "sea lice" family Caligidae, as well as a phylogenetic analysis of this family and a discussion on the taxonomic status of the genera previously belonging to the Euryphoridae.
Revision of the genera of the Chondracanthidae, a copepod family parasitic on marine fishes
- J. Ho
- Biology
- 1970
A redescription of the type-species is given for all of the above genera except the 12 genera marked with an asterisk, which are rejected.
Two species of parasitic copepods (Caligidae) new to Japan
- J. Ho, S. Gómez, K. Ogawa, M. Aritaki
- Environmental ScienceSystematic Parasitology
- 2004
Two species of parasitic copepods (Siphonostomatoida: Caligidae), Caligus sclerotinosus Roubal, Armitage & Rohde, 1983, and Lepeophtheirus longiventralis Yü & Wu, 1932, parasitic on spotted halibut Verasper variegatus (Temminck & Schlegel), are redescribed based on material found on their respective hosts cultured in Japan.
Species of Caligus Müller, 1785 (Copepoda: Caligidae) parasitic on marine fishes of Taiwan
- J. Ho, Ching-Long Lin, Shiu-Nan Chen
- Biology, Environmental ScienceSystematic Parasitology
- 1 July 2000
Six species of copepods of the genus Caligus (Caligidae, Siphonostomatoida) parasitic on marine fishes of Taiwan are reported. They are: C. absens n. sp. from Priacanthus blochii and P. macracanthus;…
Phylogeny and biogeography of the Ergasilidae (Copepoda, Poecilostomatoida), with reconsideration of the taxonomic status of the Vaigamidae
- M. A. Amado, J. Ho, C. Rocha
- Biology
- 1995
A cladistic analysis was conducted on these genera and the five genera composing the closely allied Vaigamidae, finding that the five vaigamid genera cannot be placed in a family separate from the Ergasilidae.
Copepod phylogeny: a reconsideration of Huys & Boxshall's ‘parsimony versus homology’
- J. Ho
- Environmental ScienceHydrobiologia
- 2004
A hypothesis of copepod phylogeny proposed by Huys & Boxshall (1991) was reanalyzed by using TOPOLOGY and DELTRAN options to remove many character reversals and the resulting tree is two steps longer than the best fit tree obtained strictly by using parsimony criterion and optimizd with the same procedure.
Sea Lice (Copepoda, Caligidae) Parasitic on Marine Cultured and Wild Fishes of the Philippines
- J. Ho, II‐Hoi Kim, E. R. Cruz-Lacierda, K. Nagasawa
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 1 December 2004
Caligus quadratus is new to the Philippines and the two species of fish harboring it are the new host and Caligus epidemicus exhibits extremely low host specificity and was found on all species of fishes examined.
Cladistics of the Lernaeidae (Cyclopoida), a major family of freshwater fish parasites

Six Species of the Lernanthropidae (Crustacea: Copepoda) Parasitic on Marine Fishes of Taiwan, with a Key to 18 Species of the Family Known from Taiwan
- J. Ho, Wei-cheng Liu, Ching-Long Lin
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 2011
This paper proposes treating Mitrapus rubiginosus (Redkar, Rangnekar et Murti 1949) as a junior synonym of M. heteropodus as a key to the 18 species of lernanthropids occurring on marine fishes of Taiwan.
