- BiologyInternational Journal of Systematic and…
- 2002
Three strains of psychrophilic bacteria isolated from Antarctic coastal marine environments were studied to determine their taxonomic position and it was confirmed that isolated strains belonged to the genus Shewanella and were phylogenetically related to the newly identified She Swanella frigidimarina.
Characterization of several Psychrobacter strains isolated from Antarctic environments and description of Psychrobacter luti sp. nov. and Psychrobacter fozii sp. nov.
DNA-DNA hybridization experiments showed six homology groups, two of them related at the species level to the type strain of Psychrobacter immobilis, LMG 7203T (70-83%).

- BiologyEnvironmental Microbiology
- 1 September 2006
Pseudoalteromonas antarctica NF3, an Antarctic psychrotolerant Gram-negative bacterium that accumulates large amounts of an extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) with high protein content, might function to deliver proteins to the external media, and therefore play an important role in the survival of the bacterium in the extreme Antarctic environment.
