The effect of tianeptine, a modified tricyclic antidepressant, in the chronic psychosocial stress model of adult male tree shrews, a model with high validity for research on the pathophysiology of major depression, is investigated.

Water‐suppressed localized proton NMR spectroscopy using stimulated echoes has been successfully applied to detect metabolites in the human brain in vivo and Cerebral lactate was found to be at a maximum concentration of 0.5 mM.
Glycolytic oligodendrocytes maintain myelin and long-term axonal integrity
By in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy, brain lactate concentrations in mutants were increased compared with controls, but were detectable only in mice exposed to volatile anaesthetics, which indicates that aerobic glycolysis products derived from oligodendrocytes are rapidly metabolized within white matter tracts.

It is reported that mice with a loss-of-function mutation in the murine NLGN4 ortholog Nlgn4, which encodes the synaptic cell adhesion protein Neuroligin-4, exhibit highly selective deficits in reciprocal social interactions and communication that are reminiscent of ASCs in humans.
